Travel OR RN - Circulate - $2,474 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN (OR Circulate) for a 13‑week assignment in Fort Defiance, Arizona. The position requires 40 hours per week, 10‑hour day shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients.
• Provide pre‑ and post‑surgery care and patient education.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication; report adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients’ families and the operating team.
• Ensure correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Monitor patient during surgery and respond to potential complications.
• Prepare instruments for specific surgical procedures.
• Monitor equipment used during surgery.
• Handle and prepare specimens accurately.
• Manage inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures (scrub role).
• Assist physicians with direct surgical care, control bleeding, suture patients (RN first assistant).
• Provide basic bedside care and respond to patient comfort and safety needs.

Requirements

• 1‑2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant.
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, stoop, and lift up to 20 lb routinely (up to 50 lb for patient handling).
• Tolerance for exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases in the OR environment.

Pay

Pay package is based on 10‑hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
