Travel OR RN - $2,761 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Operating Room position in Devils Lake, North Dakota. The assignment is 13 weeks, 40 hours per week, with 8‑hour rotating shifts. The role involves assisting physicians and surgical team, providing pre‑ and post‑operative care, and functioning as a circulating, scrub, or RN first assistant as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication; report adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients’ families and the operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families medication and home‑care management.
• Additional duties for circulating OR nurses: respond to patient comfort and safety needs, handle specimens accurately, monitor surgical equipment, inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for scrub OR nurses: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures, inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for RN first assistant: assist physicians with direct surgical care, help control bleeding, suture patients post‑surgery.

Requirements

• Active BLS certification.
• Minimum 1‑2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating and/or scrub nurse (or RN first assistant).
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Capable of lifting 20 lbs routinely; moving/lifting patients may require up to 50 lbs.
• Tolerance for exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases in the OR environment.
• Additional certifications may be required before assignment.
