About the role

This is an opportunity for a Registered Nurse specializing in Operating Room procedures. The candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care in a dynamic surgical environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments and establish nursing diagnoses.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans based on patient needs.
• Assist with surgical procedures in the operating room.
• Utilize healthcare technology to monitor patient status and communicate with the surgical team.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control measures.

Schedule

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Hours: 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts
• Shift: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM, Saturday & Sunday with rotating Fridays or Mondays
• Holiday Rotation: Required for upcoming summer holidays
• On Call: None

Unit Information

• Patient Ratios: 1:1
• Bed Size: 16
• Average Caseload: 35-50 cases per day
• Turnover Expectations: Less than 20 minutes
• Surgical Equipment: 3 Da Vinci robots, Stealth technology for neuro navigation
• Service Lines: Cardiac, Neuro, Orthopedic trauma, Robotics, Gynecology, Urology, General, Pediatrics, Transplants
• Scrub or Circulate: Preferred experience in both roles

Qualifications

• 24 months of current operating room experience required
• Experience in circulating and operating room procedures required
• Scrub experience highly preferred
• Required experience in General, Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases
• Additional experience in Neurology, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular preferred
• EPIC electronic medical record experience within the last 3 years required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred; Trauma Level II experience required
• Must have completed a travel assignment within the last 15 months

Certification Requirements

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Active Iowa or compact/multistate nursing license required
