About the role

Malone Healthcare is seeking a Travel RN for the OR - Operating Room, specializing in pre-op and surgical center care. This is a 13-week assignment with 40 hours per week, rotating 8-hour shifts. Typical start times range from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

The unit includes 15 operating suites, handling 55–70 surgical cases per day. This is a hospital-based Pre-Op/Surgical Center, not a freestanding surgery center. RNs will focus on pre-op care only and will not be required to scrub in the OR.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-op care for surgical patients
• Perform IV insertions
• Respond to second-call shifts (1–2 per month) with a 30-minute response time
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations, including call as needed
• May float to the OR holding/pre-op area
• Chart using Sunrise EMR (transitioning to Epic)

Requirements

• Strong IV insertion skills
• Pre-op/surgical patient care experience
• Robotics surgery knowledge preferred
• BLS certification required
• Must reside within a 50-mile local radius
• Unexpired driver’s license required at submission
• Any licensing or disciplinary history must be disclosed at submission

Call Requirements

• 1–2 second-call shifts per month
• One 24-hour weekend call (7:00 AM–7:00 AM)
• 30-minute response time for call

Weekend & Holiday Requirements

• Rotating weekends (8-hour shift: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM on Saturday or Sunday)
• Holiday rotation includes call as needed

Orientation

• Surgical Center/Pre-Op department orientation
• Facility-provided scrubs
