About the role
The Operating Room Nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient in the operating room. As a member of the surgical team, the RN works with the Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, ORTs, and other personnel to provide patient care in the Operating Room according to State Nurse Practice Act, AORN and regulatory standards, physician orders, policies and procedures of the Hospital and the Surgical Department.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring supplies and timeliness of cases
- Communication with families
- Updating physician preference cards
- Scrubbing and assisting physicians during surgical cases
- Supervision of personnel delivering patient care
Requirements
- ACLS, BLS & PALS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- AL RN or multi-state RN license
- 4 years recent OR RN experience in a hospital setting
- OR Circulator experience with Endoscopy experience
- Endoscopy, Orthopedic, and General OR specialty experience (ENT/GYN preferred)
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 6:30 am–3:00 pm
- Call: 7 days per month (including one weekend per month), 3:00 pm–6:30 am
