Travel OR RN - $2,407 per week

Location: Martinsville, VA. Duration: 13 weeks. Employment Type: Travel.

About the role

We're seeking an Operating Room RN for an immediate travel nursing assignment in Martinsville, VA. The ideal candidate will have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education.
• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs.
• Additional duties for Circulating OR Nurses: respond to comfort and safety needs of patient; accurate care and handling of specimens; monitor equipment used during surgery; inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for Scrub OR Nurses: selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures; inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for RN First Assistant: assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients following surgery.

Requirements

• ACLS, BLS, PALS certification.
• 1‑2 years recent acute care OR experience (circulating, scrub, or RN first assistant).
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, stoop; lift up to 20 lbs routinely, up to 50 lbs for patient moves.
• Tolerance for exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases in the OR environment.

Schedule

Shift: 8 hours, days; 40 hours per week.
