Travel OR RN - $2,290 per week

About the role

TotalMed is seeking an Operating Room RN for a travel nursing opportunity in Hendersonville, North Carolina. This position involves assisting physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, as well as providing pre- and post-surgery care and education to the patient. The role may function as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment
• Serve as the communication liaison between patients' family members and members of the operating team
• Ensure that the correct procedure is being performed on the correct patient
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs
• For Circulating OR Nurses: respond to comfort and safety needs of patient; accurate care and handling of specimens; monitor equipment used during surgery; inventory surgical items pre- and post-procedure
• For Scrub OR Nurses: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures; inventory surgical items pre- and post-procedure
• For RN First Assistant: assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients following surgery

Requirements

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications (additional certifications may be required before beginning assignment)
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, as well as bend, lean and stoop without difficulty
• Able to easily lift 20 pounds; moving or lifting patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times
• Ability to work in environment with potential hazards from exposure to certain chemicals or infectious diseases

Schedule

• 10-hour day shifts
• 40 hours per week
