Travel OR RN - $2,251 per week

About the role

TotalMed is seeking an Operating Room RN for an immediate travel nursing opening in York, Pennsylvania. The right RN should have recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or potentially RN first assistant.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients
• Provide pre- and post-surgery care and education to patients
• Provide basic bedside care
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment
• Serve as the communication liaison between patients' family members and members of the operating team
• Ensure that the correct procedure is being performed on the correct patient
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs

Circulating OR Nurses duties

• Respond to comfort and safety needs of patient
• Accurate care and handling of specimens
• Monitor equipment used during surgery
• Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure

Scrub OR Nurses duties

• Select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures
• Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure

RN First Assistant duties

• Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care
• Help control bleeding
• Suture patients following surgery

Requirements

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant
• BLS certification
• 3 years of experience
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
• Ability to easily lift 20 pounds; moving or lifting patients may require lifting up to 50 pounds at times
• Ability to work with potential exposure to certain chemicals or infectious diseases in the operating room environment
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment
