Travel OR RN - $2,050 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN specializing in Pediatrics OR - Operating Room for a 13‑week assignment in San Antonio, Texas. The position is full‑time (40 hours per week) on 8‑hour day shifts, with travel employment type.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families medication and home‑care management.
• Circulating OR Nurse duties: respond to patient comfort and safety needs, handle specimens accurately, monitor surgical equipment, inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Scrub OR Nurse duties: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures, inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• RN First Assistant duties: assist physicians with direct surgical care, help control bleeding, suture patients post‑surgery.

Requirements

• Current RN license (implied).
• ACLS and BLS certification.
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, and/or RN first assistant.

Skills

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Capable of bending, leaning, and stooping without difficulty.
• Able to lift 20 pounds routinely; patient lifting may require up to 50 pounds.
• Tolerance for exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases in the OR environment.
