About the role

Operating Room (OR) Nurse in a Level I trauma center located in an acute care hospital. This full-time position involves providing specialized surgical nursing care across various service lines, with a focus on trauma, general, and bariatric procedures. The role requires working with a highly skilled team to deliver optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for perioperative patient care
• Supporting surgical procedures
• Coordinating with the healthcare team to ensure safe and efficient operations
• Work with all service lines except cardiovascular (CV)
• Experience with general surgery cases such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, and laparoscopic procedures
• Experience with trauma cases including amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and motor vehicle accidents
• Skilled in emergency management, including code response and fire safety

Qualifications

• Certifications in BLS
• Active Illinois license (or in application process)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in perioperative nursing
• Experience with Level I trauma cases

Skills

• General surgery case expertise (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures)
• Trauma case expertise (amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, motor vehicle accidents)
• Emergency management proficiency (code response, fire safety)
