Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse - $2,595 per week

About the role

Operating Room (OR) Nurse position at a Level III Trauma facility in Las Cruces, New Mexico for a 13‑week travel assignment. The role provides comprehensive perioperative nursing care across surgical specialties including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Robotics, Urology, Hand Surgery, and Podiatry, focusing on patient safety, surgical workflow coordination, and supporting a diverse caseload in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Patient assessment and advocacy
• Surgical case preparation
• Equipment and supply management
• Documentation
• Specimen handling
• Medication administration
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members
• Ensuring patient safety, documentation, workflow coordination, and sterile field support as the circulating nurse
• Call responsibilities: split among OR RNs, averaging 7 calls in a 6‑week period; weekday call starts at 3 PM and ends at 7 AM; weekend 12‑hour shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM
• No floating required
• Must be registered with the state of New Mexico for fingerprinting (required for all travelers)
• Scrubs are hospital‑laundered and provided
• EMR systems used: Medhost, PICIS

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of OR experience
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Active RN license (implied)
• New Mexico registration for fingerprinting
• Familiarity with Medhost and PICIS EMR systems

Schedule

• Shift: Evenings, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday
• Shift length: 8 hours per day
• Minimum hours per week: 40
