Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse - $2,345 per week

Operating Room (OR) travel nursing position in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing surgical support in a Level I trauma center with emergency and general surgical procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical support in a Level I trauma center
• Manage trauma and specialized surgical cases, including but not limited to:
  • Laparoscopic assisted cases
  • General surgery procedures (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure)
  • Neurology procedures (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion)
  • Orthopedic procedures (arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, open and closed fracture reductions)
  • Plastic surgery (free flap microvascular procedures)
  • Organ donation
• Respond to trauma and emergency situations, including code response and fire safety awareness
• Operate electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables
• Occasional on-call requirement: 1 week per month, with potential for additional shifts
• Rare floating within scope of practice and skill set
• Complete 40 hours of pre-start orientation modules within one week of contract signing

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license (in hand or in application process)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2.5 years of OR experience
• Experience in Level I trauma center required
• Experience with trauma, general, bariatric, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, and urology cases
• Cerner experience preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• CNOR certification preferred

Schedule

• 13-week assignment starting 09/14/2026 and ending 12/14/2026
• 3x12 shifts per week (10:45 AM to 11:15 PM)
• Minimum 36 hours per week
