About the Role

This outpatient oncology infusion RN position is located in a distinguished academic medical environment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The outpatient oncology infusion center provides comprehensive care for adult patients with a wide range of solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. The practice setting emphasizes clinical excellence, patient safety, and a highly coordinated team-based approach. State-of-the-art facilities and advanced clinical resources support the delivery of evidence-based oncology care in a modern, comfortable, and efficient environment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing specialized nursing care to patients receiving both chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusions
  • Conducting detailed pre-treatment assessments, reviewing laboratory results and treatment parameters
  • Verifying chemotherapy and supportive treatment orders
  • Administering intravenous therapies in accordance with established protocols and safety standards
  • Managing central venous access devices and peripheral IVs
  • Monitoring patients closely during treatment and responding promptly and appropriately to infusion reactions or changes in patient condition
  • Providing comprehensive patient and family education regarding treatment regimens, anticipated side effects, symptom management, and follow-up care
  • Accurate and timely documentation in an electronic medical record
  • Effective communication with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity and quality of care
  • Collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and other team members to coordinate individualized care plans, support clinical decision-making, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives

Schedule

This position is scheduled for four shifts per week, with shifts typically structured in 8- to 10-hour blocks during daytime clinic hours. The schedule provides a consistent framework while still allowing some flexibility in coverage for clinic needs. Patient assignments and nurse-to-patient ratios are managed to support safe, attentive care, with consideration of patient acuity, treatment complexity, and daily infusion volumes.
