Travel Oncology Chemo Certified RN - $2,629 per week

About the role

This position is for a Registered Nurse with oncology chemotherapeutic certification. The role involves caring for adults and geriatric patients, primarily focusing on those newly diagnosed with acute leukemia. The unit routinely handles a high volume of blood products, IV antibiotics, and electrolytes.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy and manage patients receiving treatment.
• Monitor patients for signs of infection, and implement infection prevention protocols.
• Oversee patient falls prevention strategies.
• Work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.
• Manage blood product administration and IV therapy.
• Interpret dysrhythmias and conduct telemetry monitoring.
• Conduct patient assessments and document findings in computerized charting systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Minimum of two years of overall nursing experience.
• At least one year of inpatient hematology/oncology experience.
• Active oncology nursing certification.
• BLS, ACLS, and ONS Chemotherapy Certification.

Preferred qualifications

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Skills

• Experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing.
• Proficient in IV therapy and phlebotomy, including central line and peripheral line care and management.
• Ability to start IVs and manage PICC lines.
• Skilled in the use of Rapid Response Teams for critical situations.

Schedule

This position offers a rotating schedule with shifts assigned based on departmental needs. Staff may be scheduled for day shifts, night shifts, or a combination thereof. Staffing ratios are aimed at 1:4, but can occasionally adjust to a maximum of 1:5. Duration is 13 weeks with 36 hours per week, 12-hour rotating shifts.
