About the role
TotalMed Allied is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a 13-week travel job in East Peoria, Illinois. The position involves 35 hours per week, 7-hour shifts, and requires 1 year of experience as an OTA. The ideal candidate must hold a current BLS and COTA National certification, along with state-specific licensure.
Responsibilities
- Deliver therapeutic activities and interventions as directed by the supervising OT.
- Monitor patient progress and report observations to the OT to support treatment plan adjustments.
- Document patient performance and progress accurately and in a timely manner per facility and state guidelines.
- Assist patients with exercises, mobility training, and use of adaptive equipment.
- Educate patients and families on techniques to improve independence in daily activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas and equipment.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated care.
- Comply with state licensing rules and adhere to facility and professional standards.
Requirements
- BLS
- NBCOT (COTA)
- 2 Years of experience as an OTA

- State-specific licensure required
- Ability to lift and assist patients safely
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid understanding of anatomy, motor function, and occupational therapy principles
