Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist for an inpatient acute care role at a Level 2 trauma center, requiring at least 1 year of experience and active WI licensure by the start date.

Details

  • Acute inpatient setting at a Level 2 adult and pediatric trauma center
  • Patient population includes adult and pediatric ICUs, stroke, neuro, ortho, trauma, oncology, general med/surg, same-day discharge joint program, and both adult and pediatric inpatient rehab programs
  • Department sees approximately 120–150 patients per day; each therapist handles approximately 9 evaluations and 16 treatments per day
  • Therapists may be required to cover all inpatient areas including acute rehab, skilled, and ICU settings
  • Charting is done in Cerner, which is transitioning to Epic
  • 8-hour day shifts with a variable schedule; self-scheduling is not available
  • Weekend and holiday coverage required on a rotating basis with core staff; comp days are scheduled for weekends worked
  • On-call may be required
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active OT license required by start date; WI state license must be obtained prior to credentialing completion
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant OT experience required
  • BLS certification (AHA) required and must be active
  • Experience with ADL evaluation and documentation supporting next level of care
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • 2 references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant experience

Additional Information

  • Conduct ADL evaluations and clinical documentation to support transition to the next level of care across diverse inpatient settings
  • Team includes 1 rehab aide and 1 COTA on schedule
  • Orientation length varies based on individual skill level
  • Credentialing is required due to clinical privileges at this facility; the credentialing committee meets every 3rd Monday of the month, with up to 10 additional business days before a traveler can begin — plan for up to 2 months from submission to start
  • WI state license and all onboarding must be completed by the 2nd Monday of the month to avoid a delayed start date
  • Solid color scrubs required; clean and professional appearance expected
  • Candidates who previously worked at this facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their submission date
  • Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
