About the role

American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with acute and trauma experience for a 13-week adult rehabilitation services assignment at an academic medical center in Oklahoma City, OK. This position is on the Adult Rehabilitation Services unit in a day-shift, 5x8-hour schedule (40 hours per week). Travel candidates are preferred, though first-time travelers will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients in areas such as independent living skills, occupational performance, prevocational work adjustment, educational skills, play-leisure abilities, and psychosocial skills
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with short- and long-term goals, including design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices
  • Provide patient and family education regarding goals, progress, and home therapy plans
  • Assist with discharge planning including equipment ordering and home program instruction
  • May supervise OT students

Requirements

  • Active Oklahoma OT license (or ability to obtain one)
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant OT experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Acute and trauma setting experience required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with patients, families, and staff
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • After a total of 26 weeks (including extensions), candidates must have a 6-month separation before being eligible for another contract at this facility
  • This facility maintains strict compliance deadlines — candidates should be prepared to begin onboarding immediately upon acceptance of an offer
