About the Role

The Occupational Therapy Director is responsible for the clinical oversight of the Occupational Therapy Department staff. The Director oversees and coordinates the clinical education and competency process for the Occupational Therapy staff, including direct supervision of certified Occupational Therapy assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians. The role ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and professional standards. The Director is responsible for the Occupational Therapy policy and procedure manual addressing scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation. The Director evaluates and treats patients 80% of the time and assists with program development and other administrative tasks, as assigned, the remaining 20% of the time. Employee will function in accordance with their State Practice Act.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate clinical education and competency processes for Occupational Therapy staff.
  • Directly supervise certified Occupational Therapy assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and professional standards.
  • Maintain and update Occupational Therapy policy and procedure manual.
  • Evaluate and treat patients (80% of the time).
  • Assist with program development and administrative tasks (20% of the time).

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy, approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (Required).
  • Currently licensed in the State of California by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance (Required).
  • Possess all additional qualifications as recommended by the professions CA Therapy Board and the Rehabilitation Services Department (Required).
  • Member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) (Preferred).
