About the role

Travel nurse RN position in Cooperstown, New York at Bassett Medical Center. Shifts are scheduled as 7a–7p or 7p–7a on an 8-week scheduling cycle, including every other weekend and holiday. The team makes efforts to accommodate preferred shifts and will offer block scheduling when possible, based on the staffing needs of the unit, but this is never guaranteed. Clinicians are not expected to routinely switch between day and night shifts without a consistent schedule pattern. However, if staffing needs change, they may be asked if they are willing to temporarily adjust their shift.

Unit Profile: OB/LDRP

  • Average Monthly Deliveries: 80–90 (fluctuates by month)
  • Unit Composition: Mix of experienced RNs and new graduates who are still gaining specialized OB experience
  • Traveler Role: Essential in supporting patient care due to the number of new graduate RNs
  • Unit Specifics:
    • 4 Labor/Delivery/Recovery (LDR) rooms, each with a private bath, shower, and spa tub
    • 8 postpartum rooms with refrigerators and fold-out couches
    • Operating rooms for Caesarean births
    • A special care nursery

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • Preferred: 3+ years of OB experience
    • Consideration: Candidates with less than 3 years may be accepted if they have prior travel experience or have worked in a specialized OB setting
  • Certifications (Required):
    • BLS
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification

Contract Details

  • Contract Length: 12–13 weeks (shorter durations are not ideal due to coverage needs)
  • Holiday Coverage: Travelers must work every other holiday, similar to full-time staff (holiday requests are approved based on unit needs)
