Schedule

• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour shifts (days or nights)
• 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

About the unit

• 44 beds
• 75 staff members
• Day shift staffing: 1 charge RN, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 unit secretary
• Night shift staffing: 1 charge RN, 10 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 unit secretary
• Patient ratios: 1:6 on day shift, 1:7 on night shift
• Equipment: Telemetry, PCA, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, TPN, tube feeds, urinary catheters
• EMR: Cerner

Responsibilities

• Manage 6-7 telemetry patients per shift
• Perform typical procedures on the unit:
  • TPN
  • PCA
  • Wound vacs
  • Tube feeds (PEG tubes, dobhoffs)
  • NG tubes
  • Colostomies and urostomies
  • Drains: biliary, JP, nephrostomy, urinary catheters, CBI
  • Heparin drips, IV antibiotics
  • Post-operative care for surgeries including cholecystectomies, appendectomies, podiatry, bowel resections, plastics, urology surgeries, nephrectomies, hysterectomies, mastectomies, oral/maxillary, thyroidectomies, hernia repairs

Requirements

• Telemetry competency (mandatory)
• Urology and bowel experience (primary patient populations)
• BLS certification
• Telemetry certification

• Strong communication skills with charge nurses, unit secretaries, providers, and CNAs
