Patient Ratios

• Med-Surg: 1:6
• Stepdown: 1:3

Required Certifications

• BLS

Patient Population

• Multi-trauma
• Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI)
• Fractures
• General Surgery (including cholecystectomy and ostomy patients)
• Bariatric Surgery
• Other medical-surgical patients as needed

Required Experience

• Experience with: Complex wound care
• Drains and specialty devices
• Traumatic injuries
• Chest tubes
• Respiratory support
• Traumatic brain injuries
• Complex spinal cord injuries
• Medical and surgical patient care
• Epic EMR
• Level I Trauma
• Drips
• Floor: Heparin, PCA
• Stepdown: Insulin, Cardizem, and other non-pressor drips

Unit Support

• Free Charge Nurse available 24/7
• House Supervisor available
• Clinical Associates (CNAs) on the unit
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• Stable/chronic ventilator patients only
• Telemetry Monitor technicians available

Schedule

• Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Weekend Requirement

• Every other weekend (or 2 weekends every 4-week schedule)

Holiday Requirement

• Travelers participate in the permanent staff holiday rotation.
• Floating
• Required to float to like Med-Surg/Stepdown units.
• Scrub Color: Royal Blue
