• Every other weekend and holiday requirements
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Unit: 10-bed rehabilitation unit with private rooms
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
• Common diagnoses: 40% stroke, trauma, orthopedic, neurological, and a variety of disabilities with an average patient stay of 10-14 days (adult unit only, no pediatric patients)
• Required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab, typically held around 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
• Travelers may serve as charge nurse with a 1:5 patient assignment
• CNAs available during day and evening shifts; no CNA support from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• PT, OT, SLP, and rehab physician support available on unit
• RN responsible for administering nebulizers and inhalers; RT covers CPAP and BiPAP for nights with RN able to remove
• IV fluids, antibiotics, and heparin drips when transitioning to Coumadin may be required
• Floating to similar med surg tele units may be required
• Any color scrubs required; must be clean and professional
• Unit-specific orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts
• Charting system: Cerner

Requirements & Qualifications

• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Rehab experience strongly preferred
• First-time travelers accepted with rehab experience

This acute care facility is a Level 2 trauma center offering a wide range of medical services including a dedicated rehabilitation unit. The rehabilitation department provides specialized care for patients recovering from stroke, trauma, orthopedic, and neurological conditions in a private room setting. The facility utilizes Cerner as its electronic health record system and supports an interdisciplinary care team including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and rehabilitation physicians.
