Travel Nurse RN - PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care - $2,631 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) position in Phoenix, Arizona. The assignment starts January 4, 2027, lasts 12 weeks, and requires 36 hours per week on 12‑hour rotating shifts. The ideal candidate will have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience and provide critical care to pediatric patients as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients' vital signs and initiate corrective action when necessary.
• Follow continuous cardiac and respiratory monitor readings (EKG, O2 stats, CVP/arterial line waveforms) and report observed changes.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs (both central venous and arterial).
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment such as ventilators.
• Assist physicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures, including life‑saving situations.
• Assist with insertion or discontinuation of CV catheters, arterial lines, external ventricular drains, Foley catheters, epidural catheters, and endotracheal tubes.

Requirements

• Current BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience (1‑2 years preferred).
• Additional certifications may be required before starting the assignment.

Schedule

• Shift: 12‑hour rotating shifts.
• Hours per week: 36 hours.
• Start date: January 4, 2027.
• Duration: 12 weeks.
