Travel Nurse RN - Pediatrics ER - Emergency Room - $2,406 per week

About the role

TotalMed is seeking a Pediatric Emergency Room RN for a travel nursing opportunity in Norfolk, Virginia. This 13-week assignment requires 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Work with a diverse team of caregivers to appropriately evaluate, triage, and implement care using correct procedures and physician instructions
• Perform minor medical operations, advise patients and family on illnesses or injuries, and plan long-term care needs
• Document medical history, check for allergies, obtain patients' vital signs, and monitor patients' emotional and physical well-being
• Provide basic bedside care to pediatric patients
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality in nurse/child relationships
• Participate in activities to manage a child's pain
• Evaluate a child for signs and symptoms of abuse
• Serve as a child advocate

Requirements

• At least 1-2 years of recent acute care experience
• Experience and skill caring for pediatric patients in a fast-paced, urgent, and emergency environment
• BLS, PALS, CPI certifications (additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment)
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time for moving or lifting patients
• Good skills for coping with stress and ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds, especially the adolescent population
