About the Role

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Pediatric RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Responsibilities

  • Explain procedures and treatments to children and their families in an age-appropriate manner to foster understanding and alleviate fear
  • Administer prescribed medications, considering pediatric-specific dosing and delivery techniques
  • Prepare and manage pediatric-specific equipment; assist physicians during treatment and examination of patients
  • Ensure the comfort and safety of pediatric patients, incorporating developmental needs and minimizing distress
  • Observe patient conditions, record significant reactions, and notify supervisor or physician of changes
  • Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations; assess patient condition and respond appropriately
  • Respond to life-saving situations using standard nursing policies, procedures, and protocol
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and responses in the medical record
  • Develop and implement patient and family education plans addressing treatment, medication management, and age-appropriate health education
  • Collaborate with families to develop and implement care plans that address the unique needs of pediatric patients
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing pediatric patient care and outcomes
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Requirements

  • One year of recent experience as a Pediatric RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
  • PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • NRP certification
  • Other certifications and licenses as required for the position

  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending written instructions, following verbal instructions, and using PC skills
  • Physical ability to remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend

  • Technical/motor skills to grasp, perform fine manipulation, and assist with procedures or equipment
  • Mental resilience to cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision or independently, and handle irregular schedules
  • Visual acuity and effective communication abilities
