Depending on inpatient need, this traveler could also potentially help support outpatient pediatric hem/onc infusion.
Unit Information
- Beds: 12 universal beds
- Average patients/day: 8 (general peds unit including Hematology/Oncology)
- Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years of heme/onc
- First-time travelers will not be accepted
Patient Types / Common Diagnoses
- Neurosurgery
- Neurology
- Complex congenital anomalies
- Respiratory distress/pneumonia and viral
Patient Ratios
- 1:4 general pediatrics
- 1:2 active chemo
- 1:3 Hematology/Oncology non-chemo
Responsibilities
- Administering chemotherapy
- General pediatric experience
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Accessing central lines and ports
- BiPap and CPap management
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) with Oncology-Chemo Certification
- Pediatric experience
- ADN and above
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred
