Travel Nurse RN - PCU - Progressive Care Unit - $2,448 per week

About the role

Travel Nurse RN – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Wausau, Wisconsin. This is a 13‑week travel assignment with a 36‑hour work week, consisting of 12‑hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. The position is on a 44‑bed intermediate cardiac step‑down unit that is fast‑paced with high patient turnover.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care on a cardiac telemetry and step‑down unit serving post‑op CABG/valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post‑procedure cath, pacer, defibrillator, ablations, acute chest pain/MI, and med/surg overflow patients.
• Float to all inpatient units as needed.
• Maintain a typical patient ratio of 1:4.
• Work every other weekend and every other holiday as required.
• Manage low‑census periods, which may occur in 4‑hour increments; eligible for up to 36 hours of unbillable low‑census time.
• Utilize EPIC for charting and pass an EKG competency test during the first week of hire.

Requirements

• Current Wisconsin RN license.
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC).
• At least 1 year of strong cardiac experience (Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU).
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/PCU/Telemetry experience.
• Experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and nitroglycerin drips.
• One prior travel nursing assignment.
• At least 1 year of recent EPIC charting experience.
• Ability to pass an EKG test during the first week of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Demonstrated resilience, ability to manage change, work independently, and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Pay

Estimated gross weekly pay: $2,448 plus a $500 contract completion bonus. Additional tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.

Schedule

• 12‑hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM).
• 36 guaranteed hours per week.
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required.
• Low‑census periods may be scheduled in 4‑hour increments.
