About the role

The organization is seeking a Neuro Stepdown Nurse for a unit specializing in stroke and neuro-related diagnoses. The role involves providing care to adult and geriatric patients on a 30-bed step-down unit with a patient ratio of 3:1 for step-down and 4:1 for telemetry. The position is scheduled for daytime shifts, starting on 09/21/2026 and ending on 12/21/2026.

The healthcare provider requires candidates to be comfortable working across a variety of acute neurological conditions with relevant certifications. The unit provides interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, and rapid response teams. Candidates should be familiar with neuro-specific procedures, patient management, and monitoring.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts, days
• 36 hours per week
• Assignment duration: 13 weeks (09/21/2026 – 12/21/2026)

Responsibilities

• Manage care for patients with acute neurological conditions
• IV management and wound care
• Operate and interpret monitoring equipment
• Follow infection control protocols

Requirements

• Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Stepdown or Telemetry unit

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a telemetry or neuro step-down setting
• Previous charge nurse experience
• Travel nursing experience
