Travel Nurse RN - PCU - Progressive Care Unit - $2,110 per week

About the Role

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Anchorage, Alaska. This role involves working on a stepdown unit from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), serving a diverse patient population with a focus on cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and complex medical-surgical cases. The position employs a co-care/virtual nursing model, requiring collaboration with a virtual RN and bedside staff to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Progressive Care Unit setting
• Collaborate with virtual RN and bedside staff under the co-care/virtual nursing model
• Float within scope to lower acuity units, renal care, neuro, and medical-surgical areas as required
• Work 12-hour day shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Complete required modules (approximately 16 hours of time, self-reported completion)
• Work 2 out of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year

Required Qualifications

• Valid Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand (required for auto-offer)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Two references covering at least 1 year within the last 3 years
• Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
• Candidates must be at least 50 miles from the facility location

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a stepdown, telemetry, or ICU setting
• Knowledge of cardiac telemetry
• Knowledge of blood product administration
• Knowledge of advanced airway management

• Unit is a Magnet recognized facility, Level II Trauma, with 407 beds
• Patient census averages 36 patients daily
• Unit utilizes Philips monitors and Massimo capnography
