Travel nursing assignment in Birmingham, AL for a Critical Illness Recovery Hospital. You will care for high-acuity patients who have had extended ICU stays and complex conditions such as strokes, trauma, respiratory failure, cardiac failure, surgical complications, and non-healing wounds.
About the role
- 13-week contract with a minimum expectation to work every other weekend
- 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts
- One 12-hour orientation shift, then manage your own patient team
- May occasionally float between two hospitals in Knoxville
- Collaborative environment focused on medically complex care and recovery
Responsibilities
- Care for high-acuity patients with complex conditions
- Manage ventilators, vasoactive drips, and various oxygen delivery modes
- Draw your own labs
- Use Omnicell for medication dispensing
- Document in EPIC electronic medical record (EMR)
- Handle a 5-patient assignment with trachs and stable vents
Requirements
- Active and unencumbered RN license (Compact or Alabama)
- ACLS and BLS certifications through the American Heart Association
- Respiratory fit test result
- Experience with vents and trachs
- Willingness to work in a long-term acute care setting
- Recommended: experience on a stepdown floor
- 1 reference from entire work history demonstrating skilled care with vents and trachs
