Travel nursing assignment in Fargo, North Dakota for a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Duration: 13 weeks, 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts.

About the Role

The PACU Nurse provides post-operative care to pediatric and adult patients across various surgical specialties in an acute care setting. Responsibilities include monitoring high-acuity patients, utilizing specialized equipment, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient recovery.

Schedule

  • Rotating shifts with 12-hour shifts, typically 0700 to 1900, with occasional nights, weekends, and varied shifts.
  • Up to 36 hours per week.
  • Variable days with occasional weekend and night shifts, including a rotating call schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Care for surgical patients of all ages, including ICU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, and Interventional Radiology patients post-procedures.
  • Adhere to ASPAN standards of 1-1 or 2-1 patient-to-nurse ratios.
  • Float rotation may be required to other units or departments, including potential float between campuses for Phase I PACU.

Unit Description

The PACU consists of 18 Bay Phase I and 14 Bay Phase I units across two floors, staffed by the same team. Specializes in caring for patients post-surgery from multiple specialties, including ICU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, and Interventional Radiology.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license in North Dakota.
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 2 years of PACU experience; critical care experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience caring for pediatric patients.
  • Acute hospital experience in large hospital settings (250+ beds).
  • Familiarity with Epic charting, AcuDose medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, vents, and BiPap equipment.

Training & Orientation

  • Basic hospital and unit orientation provided.
  • Buddy RN assigned on the unit.
  • Never alone in the unit.

Other Details

  • Dress code: Hospital-provided scrubs.
  • Charting System: Epic.
  • Cancellation Policy: Client may cancel up to 12 hours every 13 weeks.
  • Start Date: 08/31/2026.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
