Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $3,128 per week

About the role

Travel nurse RN position in the Operating Room (OR) specialty located in Maplewood, Minnesota. The assignment is for 13 weeks, 40 hours per week, working 8‑hour night shifts. Employment type is travel, with an immediate opening.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care to surgical patients.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications; report any adverse reactions.
• Serve as the communication liaison between patients' family members and the operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure(s) is being performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs.
• Circulating OR Nurse duties: respond to patient comfort and safety needs; accurately care for and handle specimens; monitor equipment used during surgery; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Scrub OR Nurse duties: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• RN First Assistant duties: assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients following surgery.

Requirements

• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, and/or RN first assistant.
• Current BLS certification.
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning the assignment.

Skills

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Capable of bending, leaning, and stooping without difficulty.
• Able to lift up to 20 pounds routinely; moving or lifting patients may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Tolerance for exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases in the OR environment.
