Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,751 per week

About the role

TotalMed is seeking an Operating Room RN for an immediate travel nursing opening in Cleveland, Ohio. The right RN should have recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or potentially RN first assistant.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients
• Provide pre- and post-surgery care and education to patients
• Provide basic bedside care
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment
• Serve as the communication liaison between patients' family members and members of the operating team
• Ensure that the correct procedure is being performed on the correct patient
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs

Circulating OR Nurse duties

• Respond to comfort and safety needs of patients
• Accurate care and handling of specimens
• Monitor equipment used during surgery
• Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure

Scrub OR Nurse duties

• Selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures
• Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure

RN First Assistant duties

• Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care
• Help control bleeding
• Suture patients following surgery

Physical requirements

• Stand and walk for long periods of time
• Bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
• Easily lift 20 pounds
• Lift up to 50 pounds when moving or lifting patients
• May face hazards from exposure to certain chemicals or infectious diseases in the operating room environment

Requirements

• BLS, ACLS, PALS
• 3 years of experience
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment

Pay

Pay package is based on 8-hour shifts and 40.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.

Schedule

8 hours, days, 40 hours per week, 13-week duration.
