Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,740 per week

Travel nursing assignment in Springfield, Illinois for an operating room registered nurse. This position is at a high-capacity acute care hospital with a Level I trauma designation, offering a dynamic environment with diverse surgical cases.

About the Role

This operating room position involves general surgical experience, including trauma cases. The role emphasizes collaboration across service lines except cardiovascular. The facility uses Cerner electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Perform general surgical procedures, including trauma cases (amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, multiple injuries).
• Handle laparoscopic assisted cases (Bariatric, General Surgery, Transplant).
• Assist with neuro cases (craniotomy, cervical fusion, lumbar fusion).
• Participate in orthopedic procedures (arthroscopy, fracture reductions).
• Support plastic surgery (free flap microvascular).
• Conduct urology procedures (cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy).
• Work within scope to meet facility needs, including occasional floating within skill set.
• Fulfill on-call requirement once per week and be available for one weekend per month.
• Complete all onboarding modules prior to start, including a virtual orientation on Day 1.

Schedule

• 4x10-hour shifts from 12:45 PM to 11:15 PM, totaling 40 hours per week.
• On-call once per week.
• One weekend per month required.

Requirements

• Minimum 2.5 years of experience in the operating room, with general surgery and trauma experience required.
• Active Illinois RN license in hand or in application process.
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.
• No block schedule accommodations.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required; CNOR preferred.
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred.
• Level I trauma experience necessary.
