Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,712 per week

About the Role

The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring safety and comfort during surgical procedures. This includes preparing the operating room, managing surgical equipment, and collaborating with the surgical team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic surgical environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure.
• Assists in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adheres to infection control protocols and sterile technique.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow.
• Monitors the patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon.
• Handles surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols.
• Manages specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results.
• Documents all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly.
• Participates in patient handoff communication during pre- and post-operative phases, ensuring continuity of care.
• Assists in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols.
• Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follows hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures.
• Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Requirements

• One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN.
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC), or ENPC certifications.
• OR Nursing Certification (CNOR).
• Other certifications and licenses as required for the position.

Skills

• Critical Thinking & Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Technical Proficiency: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, proficiency in PC skills, and adeptness in handling surgical instruments and equipment.
• Physical Abilities: Capable of remaining stationary for extended periods, moving equipment (50-100 lbs), pushing, pulling, and bending.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with diverse personnel, maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism.
• Mental & Sensory Requirements: Ability to cope with frequent public interaction, meet deadlines under pressure, and work with occasional close supervision or independently. Must possess visual acuity and effective communication skills.

Schedule

• Duration: 13 weeks.
• 40 hours per week.
• Shift: 8 hours, days.
