Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,658 per week

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Operating Room position in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The assignment starts 11/09/2026 and lasts 13 weeks, with 40 hours per week on 8‑hour day shifts. The ideal candidate will have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education.
• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
• Ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs.
• Additional duties for Circulating OR Nurses: respond to comfort and safety needs of patient; accurate care and handling of specimens; monitor equipment used during surgery; inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for Scrub OR Nurses: selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures; inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for RN First Assistant: assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients following surgery.

Requirements

• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years recent acute care OR experience (circulating, scrub, or RN first assistant)
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, stoop, and lift up to 20 lb routinely (up to 50 lb for patient lifts)
• Tolerance for exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases in the OR environment
