About the role
TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Slidell, Louisiana.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients
- Provide pre- and post-surgery care and education to the patient
- Work as either a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication
- Respond to potential complications alongside the physician
- Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician
- Communicate with patients' family members
- Ensure correct procedure and patient identification
- Monitor and observe the patient during surgery
- Handle and prepare operating instruments and equipment
- Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- BLS certification
- 1-2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse license in good standing
- Experience in operating room setting
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Pay & Schedule
The pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
