Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse assignment in Denver, Colorado with Fusion Medical Staffing. 13-week contract, 40 hours per week, 8-hour day shifts.

About the role

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Operating Room RN for a 13-week travel assignment. As a member of our team, you’ll provide comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring safety and comfort during surgical procedures. This role involves preparing the operating room, managing surgical equipment, and collaborating with the surgical team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic surgical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure
  • Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements
  • Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adhere to infection control protocols and sterile technique
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow
  • Monitor the patient’s condition during surgery, document significant changes, and notify the surgeon
  • Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols
  • Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results
  • Document all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly
  • Participate in patient handoff communication during pre- and post-operative phases, ensuring continuity of care
  • Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards
  • Follow hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Requirements

  • One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC), or ENPC certifications
  • OR Nursing Certification (CNOR)

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending written instructions, following verbal instructions, and using PC skills
  • Physical ability to remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of personnel and maintain a positive attitude
  • Technical/motor skills to grasp, perform fine manipulation, and assist with procedures
  • Mental resilience to cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, and work with occasional close supervision or independently
  • Ability to contend with irregular activity schedules and maintain continuous concentration on detail
  • Visual acuity and effective communication skills

Pay

Pay package is based on 8-hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
