Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $1,952 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Operating Room position in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. The assignment is 13 weeks, 40 hours per week on 10‑hour day shifts, employment type travel.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, as well as providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education to the patient.
• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Serve as the communication liaison between patients' family members and members of the operating team.
• Ensure that the correct procedure(s) is being performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs.
• Circulating OR Nurse duties: responding to comfort and safety needs of patient; accurate care and handling of specimens; monitoring equipment used during surgery; inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Scrub OR Nurse duties: selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures; inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• RN First Assistant duties: assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients following surgery.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• BLS certification
• 1‑2 years recent acute care operating room experience (circulating and/or scrub nurse; RN first assistant experience a plus)
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment

Skills

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods
• Ability to bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
• Capable of lifting 20 pounds routinely; moving/lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds
• Exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases in the OR environment

Pay

Pay package is based on 10‑hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
