Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $1,930 per week

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Huntington, West Virginia. The assignment is 13 weeks, 36 hours per week, 12‑hour day shifts. Job ID #1502065.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education.
• Circulating OR Nurse duties: respond to patient comfort and safety needs, accurate care and handling of specimens, monitor equipment used during surgery, inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Scrub OR Nurse duties: selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures, inventory of surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• RN First Assistant duties: assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care, help control bleeding, suture patients following surgery.
• Provide basic bedside care; prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients' family members and the operating team.
• Ensure correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, stoop; lift up to 20 pounds routinely, up to 50 pounds when moving/lifting patients.
• Be aware of hazards from exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases in the OR.

Requirements

• BLS certification.
• Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, and/or RN first assistant.
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

• Duration: 13 weeks.
