About the role
The Operating Room Nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient in the operating room. As a member of the surgical team the RN works with the Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, ORTs and other personnel to provide patient care in the Operating Room according to State Nurse Practice Act, AORN and regulatory standards, physician orders, policies and procedures of the Hospital and the Surgical Department.
- Facility size: 99 beds
- Number of beds in unit: 6 operating rooms
- Approximately 250 procedures per month
- Shift: Days, 7a-3:30p, Mon-Fri, 5x8hr shifts, call required
- Call requirements: 1 weekday per week at minimum, weekend rotation; On-call shifts Monday - Friday 1530-0700, Saturday and Sunday 0700-0700
- Auto offers only – no interviews
Responsibilities
- Ensuring supplies and timeliness of cases
- Communication with families
- Updating of physician preference cards
- Scrubbing and assisting physicians during surgical cases
- Supervision of personnel delivering patient care
Requirements
- 2+ years experience required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS required
- Experience with general, ortho, OBGYN, podiatry, plastics, endo, trauma & DaVinci robotics required
- Adult & pediatric experience required
