Job Summary

This role involves providing specialized nursing care for general medical surgical patients, including oncology cases, in an acute care setting. The position requires a skilled RN to deliver quality patient care in alignment with hospital standards.

Job Details

  • Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Education Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
  • Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
  • Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS certification
  • Additional Responsibilities: Administering chemotherapy and biotherapy, managing chest tubes such as PleurX, caring for oncology patients with complications, including neutropenic precautions and infections, and providing care for general med-surg patients including post-operative and occasional psych patients.

Schedule

12-hour shifts, days and nights, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid nursing license
  • At least 2 years of RN experience
  • BLS certification

Unit Notes

  • Capacity of 36 beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Charge nurse coverage 24/7
  • CNA availability on days and nights
  • RTO management of respiratory equipment like CPAP and BiPAP
  • EPIC charting system utilized
  • Orientation includes multiple shifts with preceptor support
  • RN must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips (Phillips monitors), and be comfortable with managing titratable and set-rate drips, specifically Heparin

  • Shift and scheduling details include self-scheduling, with rotations every 4-6 weeks, and every-other-weekend shifts required.
  • Holiday coverage is incorporated into the rotation.
  • Staff may float to other medical-surgical units if necessary.

Pay Package

Based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
