About the role

Medical Surgical Oncology Nurse position involves providing care to post-operative and chemotherapy/oncology patients within a Medical Surgical Oncology floor. The role requires strong assessment and time management skills to manage high patient turnover on a unit that includes post-op and oncology patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to post-operative and chemotherapy/oncology patients
  • Manage high patient turnover on a combined post-op and oncology unit
  • Assess and prioritize patient needs effectively

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience (within the past 6 months)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Licensed to practice in the state
  • Pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum of 2 attempts)
  • Pass a simulation lab on day one of orientation

Preferred Qualifications

  • ONS Chemo Provider Card

Work Environment

  • 32-bed unit with a nurse:patient ratio of 4:1
  • Patient mix includes post-op colorectal, urological, bariatric, hepatobiliary, hysterectomy, breast reconstruction, and chemo/oncology patients
  • Team includes RN staff, tele/monitor techs, charge nurses (who may assist with chemo), and nurse aides during day shift
  • Float rotation may be required

Certifications

  • ACLS
  • BLS

Schedule

  • Days shift
  • 12 hours per shift
  • Minimum 36 hours per week
