About the role
Medical Surgical Oncology Nurse position involves providing care to post-operative and chemotherapy/oncology patients within a Medical Surgical Oncology floor. The role requires strong assessment and time management skills to manage high patient turnover on a unit that includes post-op and oncology patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide care to post-operative and chemotherapy/oncology patients
- Manage high patient turnover on a combined post-op and oncology unit
- Assess and prioritize patient needs effectively
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience (within the past 6 months)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Licensed to practice in the state
- Pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum of 2 attempts)
- Pass a simulation lab on day one of orientation
Preferred Qualifications
- ONS Chemo Provider Card
Work Environment
- 32-bed unit with a nurse:patient ratio of 4:1
- Patient mix includes post-op colorectal, urological, bariatric, hepatobiliary, hysterectomy, breast reconstruction, and chemo/oncology patients
- Team includes RN staff, tele/monitor techs, charge nurses (who may assist with chemo), and nurse aides during day shift
- Float rotation may be required

- Days shift
- 12 hours per shift
