About the role
Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) nursing position located at a medical facility in Madison, WI. This role involves providing specialized critical care to adult patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injuries, neurovascular diseases, and post-neurosurgery care. The position offers the opportunity to work on a neuroscience critical care unit with a dynamic team, supporting both intensive care (ICU) and intermediate care (IMC) patient populations.
Job Details
Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 1900 to 0730 hours, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Passing a strict telemetry test with two attempts, focusing on lethal rhythm identification and heart block recognition
- Working in a 12-bed neuroscience ICU, supporting adult patients with various neurological diagnoses
- May include support for IMC care
- Travelers are expected to float as needed within the facility
Requirements
- Valid RN license (WI or Compact licensure)
- ACLS and BLS certifications
- At least 2 years of recent acute care experience within the last 3 years in a neuroscience, ICU, or similar setting
- Strong clinical skills in neurocritical care
- Experience with complex neurological interventions such as vasoactive drips, hemodynamic monitoring, drains, and ventilator management
- Epic charting experience required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with neurovascular conditions, stroke management, and neuro-specific procedures such as lumbar drains and EVDs
- Previous experience with telemetry testing and neurocritical protocols
