About the Role
Float Pool RN position covering Zone 4 facilities in Kansas: Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital (Ulysses), St. Catherine (Dodge City), and St. Catherine (Garden City). Travelers must live outside a strict 60-mile radius and secure housing that allows floating across the entire zone. No home-base facility.
Responsibilities
- Float across multiple units: general Med-Surg/Tele, cardiac, neuro, oncology, rehab, renal, bariatrics, ortho, trauma, and ED observation
- Float to higher-acuity units (ICU for low-acuity holds, PCU/Stepdown) within skillset
- Patient ratios: 1:5–6 based on acuity
- Two scheduling formats:
- Option A: Scheduled at a single facility for the week (may float within that facility)
- Option B (Just-In-Time): Facility assigned 1–2 hours before shift start via call
- 6–9 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule; may be asked to join the holiday rotation
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg/Tele experience in the last 3 years (prior neuro, Alaris, and Epic experience preferred)
- Active nursing license
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Driver’s license must be submitted
- Cannot miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract; 2-week notice required to avoid back-out penalty fee
