About the role
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) rotating shift begins 09/14/2026. This position involves working on a 32-bed surgical unit with a focus on post-surgical patients, including vascular, thoracic, colorectal, and general surgery cases. The unit shares patient care responsibilities with a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with nurse-to-patient ratios of 4:1 during the day and 5:1 at night, and LNA ratios of 1:7-11. Float rotation may be required and on-call duty is required.
Responsibilities
- Manage complex surgical patients in a 32-bed unit
- Care for post-surgical patients including vascular, thoracic, colorectal, and general surgery cases
- Manage chest tubes, tubes, drips (e.g., Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, amiodarone)
- Handle lines, tubes, drains for post-surgical patients
- Care for patients with trachs/laryngectomies
- Monitor telemetry
- Manage complex wounds
- Perform central line care and blood draws
Requirements
- Valid RN license
- Surgical experience caring for patients after vascular, thoracic, colorectal, and general surgery
- Proficiency in managing post-surgical patients with chest tubes, tubes, drips, lines, drains, trachs/laryngectomies, telemetry, complex wounds, and central lines
- Experience in a similar surgical setting
- One year of relevant experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ARDS, esophagectomies, whipples, sepsis, and full scope post-surgical care
Schedule
- Rotating shift, 12 hours per shift
- Minimum of 48 hours per week
