Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $3,004 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a 13‑week assignment in Peoria, Illinois. The position requires 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience and involves working 48 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on immediate conditions or needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments and appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician.
• Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients’ families.
• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre‑ and post‑op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist the physician during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans as prescribed.
• Stand, walk, bend, lean and stoop for extended periods; lift up to 20 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds when moving patients.
• Work in a fast‑paced environment with patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative.

Requirements

• Current BLS certification.
• Current NIH certification.
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience (minimum 1 year).
• Additional certifications may be required before starting the assignment.
