About the role

Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position in a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital in West Union, IA. The role involves providing patient care on a unit that includes Med/Surg and OB services, with a focus on clinical skills and independence. Float capabilities between Medical-Surgical and Obstetrics departments are required, including high-risk labor and postpartum care in a rural healthcare setting.

Schedule

• 12-hour days (5 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Holiday rotation and possible call-back in emergency situations
• On-call duties optional based on agreement

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care on Medical-Surgical and Obstetrics units
• Float between Medical-Surgical and Obstetrics departments, including high- and low-risk labor, postpartum, and surgical settings
• Work independently and serve as a charge nurse backup
• Assist and train less experienced staff
• Begin clinical compliance within 48 hours of acceptance
• Complete 8 hours of unbillable orientation time

Requirements

• IA Registered Nurse (RN) license
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Minimum of Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring certification
• Associate degree or certificate in nursing
• 2+ years experience in specialty area
• Previous experience in a Critical Access Hospital beneficial
• Previous charge experience required
• Resilient, able to manage change effectively

Preferred Qualifications

• Electronic Medical Record (EPIC) experience

Pay

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
