• Shift Requirements: 12 hour Day/Night variables (7a–7p / 7p–7a)
• Weekend/Holiday: every other weekend and holiday
• Float Requirements: To all inpatient units
• Low Census: Contract is eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours; unit typically low censuses in 4-hour increments and may ask for a traveler to work only 4 or 8 hours of the shift (not considered on call)

Certifications and experience

• Required Certifications: WI RN License and BLS (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum Experience: 2+ years Med Surg experience; recent hospital experience; Trauma level II experience required
• Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required
• Charting Experience: Epic required

Unit overview

• Unit Description: 40-bed inpatient area providing pre- and post-surgical care for adults and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Day/PM 1:4 or 5, Nights 1:5–7
• Unit Pace: Fast-paced, averages 10–15 admissions per day (highest on Day/PM), 90–95% occupancy during the week, average length of stay 2–3 days (except joints)
• Key Responsibilities: Multi-task and prioritize patient care needs based on acuity; work as a team
• Equipment: Epic EMR, Rovers for medication scanning, Alaris pumps
• Scrub Color: Any color

Additional policies

• GSA hours are not guaranteed the week of orientation
• Traveler is guaranteed set hours per week, except during holidays when the unit is closed
• During flu season, refusal of flu and COVID vaccination requires masking at all times per Aspirus policy (no exceptions); failure to comply may result in corrective action
