Medical Surgical Floor (MS) registered nurses are sought for a healthcare facility located in Galesburg, Illinois. This long-term assignment involves providing patient care on a unit that manages a variety of diagnoses such as COPD, Sepsis, CVA, COVID, and pneumonia, among others. The position requires adherence to hospital policies and offers an opportunity to work within a supportive team environment.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, starting on 08/17/2026, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Hours: 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois nursing license
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical-surgical nursing
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Full understanding of EMR systems

Additional Information

• Department: Medical-Surgical Nursing with 37 beds, private and semi-private rooms.
• Nurse to patient ratios: Day shift 1:4-6, Night shift 1:5-6.
• Staffing: Charge nurses available 24/7, and nurse aides (CNAs) with a ratio of 1:10-15.
• Weekend rotations: Every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday.
• Holiday work: May be required on a rotating basis.
• No vents on unit: Patient care may involve BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy.
• In-house hospitalist coverage: During days, with available Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) and e-Hospitalist support at night.
• Pharmacy availability: 24/7; medication assistance provided by nursing supervisor if needed.
• Self-scheduling: Available for shifts.
• Orientation: 2 days specific to the department and 1 day of hospital/EMR training.
• Common patient diagnoses: COPD, Sepsis, CVA, COVID, pneumonia, and surgical cases such as hips, knees, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and bowel resections.

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
